Waste Connections of Colorado – Denver is a residential trash and recycling service provider to customers in the greater Denver area from Longmont and south to Castle Rock. Availability of services varies by community but we are continually adding communities and services along the Front Range.

Safe Collection

Waste Connections Denver strives to assure the complete safety of our customers, our employees and the public in all our operations.  Please only place approved items in carts, and place the carts according to the diagram and instructions below for safe collection.

  • Leave 3 feet between containers
  • Handles should face towards your house
  • Do not drill into, bolt or fasten anything to the cart
  • Materials should not be higher than the lid of the container or be placed on top of the lid
  • Trash should be bagged and tied
  • Do not pack materials tightly into cart

Container Size.

Waste Connections of Colorado – Denver residential customers receive a 96-gallon trash container for weekly pickup.

If you have extra garbage or large items – furniture, carpet etc. - that will not fit inside the container, please contact customer service at (303) 288-2100 at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled pickup day. Items or bags placed next to the container will not be picked up without prior arrangement. Additional charges may apply.

Acceptable Items:

  • Normal non-hazardous, solid household waste
  • Double bagged cat litter or dog waste
  • Styrofoam cups, plates, packing peanuts, etc.

Unacceptable Items:

  • 55-gallon drums (unless both ends are cut out and drum is flattened)
  • Acid
  • Ashes, hot or cold
  • Batteries
  • Broken glass, broken mirrors (unless wrapped in newspaper and labeled)
  • Computer monitors
  • Concrete or rock
  • Dead animals
  • Dirt or sod
  • Electronics – learn more
  • Fertilizer (depends on quantity-please call customer service at (303) 288-2100 before placing in trash)
  • Firecrackers
  • Fluorescent tube lighting rods, bulbs
  • Gasoline
  • Hazardous materials

  • Lawnmowers and other home yard equipment (unless the gas and oil have been completely removed)

Residential Trash Service Cancellation Policy:

Cancellation of your Waste Connections Denver trash collection service can only be accepted by phone from a person on the account.  Please call before 15th of the next billing cycle.  

Upon cancellation, a $25 toter (cart) removal fee will apply unless the cans were purchased.  Please allow 6 weeks for any refunds.


Please do not put any electronic items in any Waste Connections of Colorado – Denver container.  As of July 1, 2013, it is against the law.

Per the State of Colorado, “Waste electronics and computers from residential and non-residential sources cannot be disposed of in solid waste landfills in Colorado.  Waste electronics contain heavy metals and other harmful constituents that have the potential to contaminate soil and groundwater if not managed and disposed of properly.”

Residential Recycling

Request ServiceWaste Connections of Colorado - Denver are proud supporters of cleaner, greener Colorado and we encourage residents to recycle. Today more than ever, recyclable products are common and our programs and services make Front Range recycling convenient and worry-free for our customers. We provide a single-stream Front Range residential recycling program (also known as "fully commingled" recycling), which means all recyclables are placed in one bin for convenient curbside pickup. Residential recycling in the Denver Metro area is collected every other week. Place your recyclables curbside by 7 a.m. on your pickup date.

Container Size

Waste Connections of Colorado – Denver residential customers receive a 96-gallon recycling container for biweekly pickup.

Residential customers are not required to sort approved Single-Stream recyclables.

When preparing recycling for pickup, please follow these guidelines carefully:

  • Flatten all cardboard boxes
  • Empty and rinse all containers. Do not flatten containers
  • Do not place items in plastic bags

Recycling Perks

Beginning on June 4, 2018, Waste Connections of Denver customers will have the opportunity to begin earning reward points for placing their recycling carts out for collection. Registered participants can earn up to $25 in discounts a month and $300 in discounts each year. Participants may redeem their earned rewards for coupons, discounts and special deals with local vendors, retailers, restaurants, grocers and more.

Residential Yard Waste

Request ServiceYard waste will be collected on your normally scheduled Front Range trash pickup day. Some yard waste can be accepted as compost. Please contact Waste Connections of Colorado - Denver customer service at (303) 288-2100 to see if composting is available in your community.

Pickup guidelines:

  • Use a Kraft paper bag for yard waste (available at hardware, home improvement stores.
  • Only put in leaves and yard/grass clippings.

If you have longer sticks/branches/limbs, fashion the items into bundles that are no more than 4 feet long and no more than 40 pounds each.

There are extra charges that may apply per bag and per bundle, so please contact Waste Connections of Colorado - Denver customer service at (303) 288-2100 for details.

Residential Composting

Request ServiceWaste Connections of Colorado - Denver offers composting for many organic materials in some areas.*

Waste Connections’ compost is picked up every other week. Please have your composting cart out by 7 a.m. Compost can either be loose or bagged, but must go directly into the Waste Connections of Colorado - Denver composting container. Bags must be compostable as well. We can pick up additional bags when given at least 24 hours' notice (there may be additional charges).

Compost Container.

We accept the following organic materials:

  • Brush and tree trimmings
  • Food waste
  • Food-soiled Paper (waxed cardboard, napkins, paper towels, paper plates, paper milk cartons, tea bags, coffee grounds/filters)
  • Flowers
  • Grass clippings
  • Leaves
  • Sawdust
  • Shredded paper
  • Weeds
  • Wood/limbs up to 5 inches in diameter (no lumber)
  • Wooden Crates

We cannot accept the following items in composting containers:

  • Animal droppings
  • Construction debris
  • Dirt, rock or brick
  • Lumber
  • Wood/limbs over 5 inches in diameter

Residential Roll-off

Residential Roll OffRoll-off containers are great for clean-up jobs, spring cleaning and large item removal for residential customers. If you have a project and would like to learn more about our Denver area roll-off services, call customer service at (303) 288-2100.

Before ordering a container, it is wise to measure the area where you want the roll-off driver to unload the container and to check that there are no overhead hazards like power lines and tree branches.
